West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday met former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and said that in a one-to-one fight, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be politically eliminated.
Banerjee, who is in Delhi for a four-day visit to discuss an anti-BJP alliance agenda, met Gandhi and said that whenever she is in the national capital, she makes it a priority to meet her. She also said that they had a political discussion, where she quoted that one-is-to-one party was needed in 2019.
Banerjee asserted her wish for Congress’ support to form a regional parties front alliance which is being talked about.
“Whenever I come here I meet her, we share a good relation. I enquired about her health, also had political discussion, I said that the country wants it to be one-is-to-one in 2019, jo party jahan strong hai wahan usko ladna chahiye. We want Congress to help the regional parties’ front that is being talked about, so as to facilitate a one-is-to-one fight. This one-is-to-one fight will eliminate BJP politically,” Banerjee said.
