United Left alliance sweeps JNU students’ union elections, bags all 4 seats

New Delhi: As the counting of votes concluded, United front of Left Alliance on Sunday swept the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Students’ Union polls. The United front of Left student groups – AISA, SFI, AISF, DSF – won all four central panel posts, confirmed the election panel.

N Sai Balaji has been elected as the president, Sarika Chaudhary as the vice president while Aejaz Ahmed Rather has been elected as the general secretary and Amutha Jayadeep as the joint secretary.

The counting for the JNUSU polls started on Saturday evening after more than 12 hours of interruption, caused by some people belonging to a political group contending for the top posts who had barged into the counting centre.
