Hindu groups do ‘ghar wapsi’ of Dalit man who became Muslim for marriage


SHAMLI. After a Dalit youth converted to Islam for marriage in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, several Hindu groups including Bajrang Dal reached his residence and convinced him to do ‘Ghar Wapsi’ by becoming Hindu again.
The Dalit man reportedly embraced Islam to marry his Muslim girlfriend on advice of a Maulvi. The Maulvi allegedly got him registered as a Muslim in Muzaffarnagar court.
Hindu groups, upon hearing of his conversion, went to the youth’s house to convince him to convert back to Hinduism. he initially refused, but was persuaded by Bajrang Dal members, who tried to enlighten him about the Hindu religion. He then embraced Hinduism again by shaving off his beard and sporting a ’tilak’ on forehead.
